Fingerprint Brushes

February 29, 2012  •  1 Comment

I took this photograph of fingerprint brushes with 3 different colored fluorescent fingerprint powders for a presentation on developing fingerprints.  The photo was taken in complete darkness. A forensic alternate light source was used to illuminate the brushes with a light wavelength of 450 nanometers (similar to a UV light). An orange filter was attached to the lens. The combination of the ALS and the orange filter cause the powders to fluoresce. A small flash was used at 1/64 power to illuminate the handles of the brushes. Anyway, I just thought it was a pretty cool photo and I think it turned out decent and I really love all the color.
